Ever tried to start your A/C on a hot day with a generator that, theoretically, should run your A/C? The generator struggles and goes into overload because he cannot supply the starting current required to start the compressor and the fan motor.
I created the first easy RV Starter in the hot summer of 2012, right before we left for a camping trip to the North Georgia Blue Ridge mountains. We enjoy boondocking on a semi-developed camping place in the National Forest, avoiding the annoying crowd on overloaded spots.
It seems that it gets hotter every summer, even up in the mountains! My wife insisted on getting a portable generator to run our RV AC. I installed our new "genny" in an aluminum box on the back of our camper; everything was looking good.
What a surprise, the overload tripped at the YAMAHA 2000W/2400W inverter generator when we started the AC.
After over 40 years of experience in air appliance and conditioning service, I just could not let it go - period!
I created a prototype RV-AC-Starter, which, after a few tweaks - easy started our rooftop AC with no generator problems.
Now, my wife was ready for the first hot season with our new camper and a working air conditioner (happy wife = happy life...).
